My Quarantine Morning Routine.
Is quarantine even still going on? I don’t really know but I’m still working from home so for me, I am still going about my quarantine morning routine. You might be thinking what sets my normal morning routine apart from a quarantine morning routine? There aren’t many differences but there are some that set it apart so let’s see what those things are!
Wake Up from 8:30-8:50am.
When commuting to work, 7:30am is the latest I can sleep until and by 8:20am I am out the door and in my car. Now that I am working from home, I’m even able to sleep later than I would be leaving for work. It’s pretty great having the ability to wake up ten mins before I need to start working and be up and ready to go. Yeah, when I go back to driving to work each morning it is going to be so hard to drag myself out of bed an hour earlier but for now, I am enjoying every minute of it.
Shower?
I am the type of person to shower each and every day. The question mark matters depending on how much fatigue I’m feeling. If it is a morning I am waking up at 8:30am, I can shower but if I wake up at 8:50am, I wait until my lunch or later in the day. Since I may not in the morning, it is excluded from my routine and changes things up on some days. Most though, I am getting my shower in the morning.
After Shower Ritual.
Each morning after I get out of the shower, instinctively I take the same steps to finish off the process. I don’t wear make-up, I don’t do my hair each day, so that makes the morning that much easier for me. But I use each of these items listed below to freshen up and finish up before I really get a start to my day.
- Chapstick
I either use Young Living or Rocky Mountain chapstick. They are both feel moisturizing on my lips. Of course I need to reapply all throughout the day but that is any chapstick so I really enjoy these over the rest. - Deodorant
If you read my Which Deodorant Is Right blog, you’ll know I use type:A deodorant. It has been SO hard for me to find one that actually works for my body. Everyone is different and going through the process of trial and error with deodorant has really made me realize that. - Face Cream
I first started with Rocky Mountain Soap Co. soap. Fitting, right? Once I used that I decided to branch out and try their other products because I really liked them. I’m pretty picky when it comes to a lotion/cream for my face since I tend to deal with oily skin. The pomegranate day cream is wonderful! It doesn’t feel greasy, it actually feels nourishing and soothing. - Lotion
Again, Rocky Mountain is it. I am either using their lavender or vanilla coconut lotion. The scents are great and they don’t leave a greasy feel on my skin. - Essential Oils
Since the coronavirus really became big, I began adding Thieves oil into my daily routine. I rub it on my bottom of my feet each day. Valor use to be the oil I would use but Thieves has become the one for quarantine. I will some days use Valor on my wrists or incorporate somehow because I can’t get enough of it.
I have been trying to live out a chemical-free lifestyle. It is hard to go chemical-FREE but I try to get as close as I can and that is why I use the products that I do.
I typically go for a shower that is almost as hot as it can be before getting to the point that it will burn me. That sounds crazy now that I’m typing it but I’m sure I’m not alone… maybe. I don’t like to feeling of even being chilly because I feel most comfortable when my body is completely warm. On that note, the items that I use in my “after shower ritual” moisten my skin, since the shower tends to dry it out.
Get Dressed.
This… this is the most challenging part of the morning. Clothes? I still need to pick an outfit? It is definitely that much easier during quarantine to settle on an outfit! Loungewear has been the go-to the majority of the time I have been at home. Even when I try a little more, I am still going about my day in a casual kind of look. If you haven’t read my, Casual Outfits If You’re Tired Of Sweats, click the title to check it out 🙂 . Now that I got to plug one of my other blogs, onto the rest of my routine!
Make Coffee.
Especially the mornings I don’t shower, this is a life saver! Although, I cannot make a good cup of coffee… I’ll admit it! It’s very unfortunate too because it has been so great not buying coffee each day but that means I have to settle with iffy coffee. I give baristas SO much credit! On the mornings that I really don’t want to deal with my crappy coffee, I will make either a smoothie or a Ningxia Red mocktail. This will be your flavor of seltzer, ningxia and a vitality oil that pairs well with the seltzer. This, I can’t mess up 🙂 .
Scroll Insta A Little.
Yes, I am one of those people that check their feed each morning. I really don’t scroll Insta as much but more so check through stories with a tad bit of scrolling. I like to see what some people posted that I may have missed from the day before and just do a little catch up.
Make My To-Do List.
Since quarantine started I have been making a to-do list to keep myself in check. I feel by writing out the things that need to get done I can refer back to throughout the day and keep those things in the back of my mind. Even if I don’t journal or do some other writing, this makes me feel even just a little more productive.
Set Up My “Work Station”.
Speaking of productivity, I know it is a lot more productive to have an actual desk space to get your work done. Since I am home, I want to be comfortable and relaxed. I sit on the couch with a blanket or two and a pillow behind my back. Here and there I will sit on the bed but I am always in some form of relaxation. Once I have that, I grab my laptop and other essentials out of my bag and plug my laptop in. It is just that simple. Yes, this has made me lazier but when else am I going to WFH? I want to enjoy this while I can!
I will say, there are things I wish I could change about my routine. When I was still going into work but expecting to WFH shortly after, I thought how I can still get up at 7:30am and have an hour to do what I want! I can do some morning yoga, go for a light run, get some blogging done, etc. Unfortunately that isn’t the case because sleep wins, EVERY TIME.
What is your morning routine like compared to your quarantine routine? Maybe there isn’t a difference? Let me know with a comment!
See ya,
