What Happened In October?
A lot happened within the month of October, but I didn’t really do much blogging about any of it. I posted twice in the month but nothing fall related, and fall is my FAVE season… I wanted to kind of give a recap of what happened during that month. I did blog about my salt cave meditation experience, if you didn’t read up on that, you can click HERE 🙂 . Aside from that though, I didn’t make time to get anything else out there so enjoy the things that stood out to me in October!
Comic Con
For years, I thought that it would be so cool to go to Comic Con and see what it’s all about. I’ve never been into comics but it sounded fun and I like to experience new things. Plus, I’ve always been into movies so whatever nerdy movie related things were there, I would’ve found an interest in. For the first time, I have attended New York Comic Con! I planned to write a blog about it but it was A LOT and the time just got away from me but I am still considering writing one… even if you guys wouldn’t care at this point 🙂 .
It was different from what I anticipated… not in a bad way though. Have you ever been looking forward to something that you’ve never done before and it just was’t what you expected? Well, yeah, it was that, lol. The cosplay did not disappoint, we spent the money we planned to, and even met with some friends! Keith and I each planned in advance for autographs and photo ops. I met Paul Reubens, aka Pee Wee Herman, and Keith met Sean Astin! It was one of the most tiring but thrilling four days in awhile. And NO, we didn’t dress up… there’s always next year 😉 .
Went Apple Picking.
Give me ALL the fall things. Fall is my fave season and I am not afraid to show it! Whether it is watching Halloween/horror movies, visiting a pumpkin patch, consuming anything pumpkin flavored, I love it ALL. This season I went apple picking! Unfortunately, that is a bit of an understatement… we did do some picking, just out of big, wooden crates…
Keith and I went to Harbes Orchard in Riverheard, NY. I don’t know if we went too late in the season but there were little to no apples on the trees. Whatever apples were throughout the apple orchard were on the floor or rotten. Either way we did get to take home some delicious apples! So there was that. We also got to bring home a nice, big pumpkin that we ended up just using as decor rather than carving. Just knowing that we went to a patch and picked it out, made me happy! Oh… and yeah… if you looked at the pictures above, a bee flew into my hair, A BEE FLEW INTO MY HAIR! Highlight of the day 🙂 .
Reposted to Pura Vida.
I mentioned this slightly in my Me blog but Pura Vida bracelets, I am a brand ambassador for them! During this month their ambassador Instagram account re-posted one of my photos! I know, “Samm, why is this even something worth mentioning as a stand out thing for your blog?” Well, for one I can plug my discount code, SamanthaJayson20, hehe. But, it actually is really nice to get recognized. Pura Vida is a company I’ve been shopping from years before I became an ambassador. For a company to want to use one of your pictures to represent them means that you are putting out good content. Even if it is just the one picture.
I am one of the people in this world wrapped up in social media. I am an ambassador for a few different companies so for me it is exciting when a company takes notice of what you post.
Checked Out The Milleridge Inn.
The Milleridge Inn is a beautiful restaurant and cottage with little shops located in Jericho, NY. Honestly, that’s probably not the best description but that’s how I can best describe it, lol. I had never been there before. I’ve just heard how big and nice it is and I’ve always wanted to check it out. They go all out decorating for holidays so I knew I had to get around to see what it looked like for myself. The day had come and I decided I would go during my lunch break. Not only did I want to go just because I’ve heard people rant about it but I figured it would be the perfect place to get some Instagram content, and it sure was! I only checked out the shops but I think I will need to go back to check out their restaurant.
Since I went during October, it was as if you had just walked into Halloweentown. A pumpkin archway welcoming you to the shops, witch hats strung above your head, spiderwebs all around, giant candy, corn stalks, so much that gives you all the fall feels. There is a candy store, a cafe, an irish store, a Christmas shop, and even more! It was such a cute area to walk around waste some time. I cannot wait to see what it is like in the wintertime!
Went To The “Local” Haunted House.
For thirty years, there was a family that decorated their house and garage as an actual haunted house. The garage was made into a mini haunted house where people around the neighborhood would come and enjoy the scares that this family provided. This year was the final year that they were doing it so it was my last chance to go! Another thing that I didn’t get to do until this October. I have to say, considering it was a local haunted house, constructed in a garage, it was really good! I jumped once or twice!
Until I actually got their night of, I was under the impression that this was done inside the ACTUAL house. I wondered how they made it work for this long but that’s because it wasn’t done inside the actual house! They also had characters running around as Michael Myers (two of them), Leatherface, Pennywise, and such… I felt a deep breath on the back of my neck. I just assumed that this was Keith joking around with me… it was a nun and I SCREAMED. She got me, she got me good! It was a great night and a good way to send off Halloween.
Bye, October.
So, until next year, bye October… it was a GOOD month! I hope everyone else had a good spooky season. Leave me a comment letting me know what you did in the month of October. Pumpkin carving, winery, sitting under the stars on a nice, chilly night… I don’t know, lol. But fall or not fall related, let me know what you did!
See ya,
Samm 🌻
