How To Pass The Time While In Quarantine.

By now, I am sure that you are effortlessly bored out of your mind from being inside day after day. Self quarantining is not an easy thing to do and I know that can make anyone go crazy. We are active beings and when told to stay confined to our homes, that can be hard to do.

I have seen lists of things to do on Pinterest to keep yourself busy. When in the house for days it gets easy to find yourself with nothing to do. I want to create my own list of things to keep us occupied and help pass the time! These may be ideas that you have seen before but they are ways that I am using the time in my day 🙂 .

Catch Up On Your Planner.

Something I hoped to do this year was to actually keep up on my planner. That tends to be a struggle for me, even if it is such a simple task. I tend to go a couple weeks without updating what I did throughout the week. The past few years I have had the intention to write down something I have planned or if something comes up that day, I can log it. I have been slacking on that each year and I hoped this year would be different, obviously not. This gives me a chance to look back through the days, whether it be my calendar, photos, even social media, to figure out what I did each day.

Get Your Binge On.

This is probably the most obvious thought but binge watch some of your favorite shows, movies, etc! This is even a perfect time to revisit some things that you may have seen before. I am big into movies so this is my time to catch up on some that I haven’t gotten the chance to view just yet! For me personally, I would love to binge on some American Horror Story or Atypical, when it comes to Netflix. I am in the middle of Hotel (season 5) of AHS and just need to watch the most recent season of Atypical to be caught up.

Take A Walk/Exercise.

Even with being quarantined, it’s still good to get out for some fresh air and exercise. Social distancing is a thing so that has to be kept in mind. A walk can be the perfect thing to take up some time in your day, it can last as long as you would like! I love going for walks but this also gives me more time to do some yoga. I can even go outside and do some yoga in the yard to get in some movement and sunshine at the same time.

Reading.

Many people would like to pick up a book and read a few chapters a day but time seems to always be what gets in the way. Maybe you aren’t even into reading like that, I am one of those people. I want to use some of my free time to catch up on some blogs that I have been meaning to read! There are so many sources though, pick up a magazine, click through some articles, whatever you’re into!

Find A New Podcast.

I can sit there for hours on end listening to a podcast, if it intrigues me that much. I am in the process of writing up a blog of some of my fave podcasts that I listen to each week. It is something to pass the time, learn something new, and keep yourself entertained. Some days I even find this to be more entertaining than binging Netflix! If you aren’t a podcast person, TRY. IT. OUT. There is something for EVERYONE and there is an endless amount of them.

Cleaning.

No, cleaning isn’t something people tend to do for fun but we’re inside anyway. I don’t have so much cleaning to do, more like organizing. I have a desk with writing supplies and various other items floating around on it, my closet it very out of wack, my photos on my phone need to be sorted and/or deleted, even my car has more in it than I am happy to admit. I don’t know about you, but I get in random cleaning kicks so this is my chance to take advantage of that. Start by picking up that pile of clothes in the corner and continue from there!

Get Creative!

This one has to be the most fun of all, I think at least 🙂 . Getting creative gives you an opportunity to start a hobby, try something you’ve never done before, or maybe something that you’ve been wanting to do but haven’t been able to just yet. Just some ideas to throw out there:

Build Your Blog – I have always been into writing and last year I decided I wanted to do something with that, so I did. Figure out what you like to write about and do it. Honestly, I’m still figuring it out but I am just writing about what I like and ideas that come to mind. You have to start somewhere!
Start a Youtube channel – I have heard SO many times, “I want to start a Youtube”, and then it doesn’t happen! Whether it be time, lack of confidence, whatever the reason is. This is the time to do it! I don’t have a channel but I do upload to my insta story here and there and I am not the most confident but I feel better than I did at first. It’s true, practice makes perfect! Even make a few videos that you don’t upload just to start.
Learn a new recipe – I have been big into acai bowls lately. Considering there are less and less places open, I decided I can make my own! No, it’s nothing crazy but it’s something I want to try out. I haven’t done it just yet but I have been pinning random recipes and such. Try this, or something else out for yourself!

Like I mentioned, these are activities that others have suggested but I feel that they are time consuming enough to make a dent in your day! Of course these are things that I find interesting but maybe it sparked an idea in your mind. One that you have never even thought of before! Make acai bowl recipes? That never would’ve been something I would do a year ago. And it doesn’t have to be acai bowls but that pertains to me 🙂 .

Leave a comment to let me know what you guys are doing to keep yourself distracted! Did you decide to take up any of my ideas to pass the time in my day?

I hope everyone keeps washing their hands, staying in and using their time how they want to! Stay healthy and safe! We are all going through this together, even if we are experiencing it in different ways. We will get through it ♡.

See ya,
Samm 🌻
