What Is Your Favorite Way to Spend A Lazy Day?

When I first began to make writing a serious hobby I decided to buy a writing prompt journal titled, 300 Writing Prompts. My friend told me about this book and I went to Target a few days later to pick it up. Whether you want to overcome writer’s block, need something to keep you distracted, or just do some daily journaling, this book is perfect. Here is one of the prompts that I wanted to share with you 🙂 Enjoy!

Typically people would say that their favorite, or even ideal lazy day would consist of bed, watching Netflix/tv or just lounging around the house. I can’t say I blame them, I just have a different idea in mind. For me, it depends on my mood, the weather, and even the season… I haven’t had the luxury of driving in the past so a new window has opened for me. A lazy day I would consider my favorite would be a sunny summer day in the 80s on the beach. The beach is one of my favorite places in general so to spend a day lolled on the sand, while the sun is kissing my skin as I just lay there and take it all in would be flawless. Throwing on a bikini and a pair of sunglasses while a breeze flows through my hair, what could be better?

The best way to prep for a beach day is to get everything ready the night before. That way I know I have a notebook, pen, headphones, a towel, sunscreen, some fruit/snacks, and the perfect bikini picked out. Just because it is called a “lazy day” doesn’t mean that it has to be consumed in the house. The beach is the kind of place that I can just relax and let all my worries go away for the time that I am there. My goal each year is to get super tan, it never works, but it is nice to go to have the chance to attain that. Being able to just lay around and get tan, how easy is that?

The day would start bright and early. Long Beach (New York, not Cali, lol) would be my beach of choice. Lifeguards get there by 9am which means I MUST get there before then. As a non-resident of Long Beach it is fifteen dollars to get onto the beach… I think NOT! So getting there super early seems like a good idea, plus that’s more time to get my tan on. I could probably spend hours on the beach alone with a notebook, a pen, some music, and I’ll be set! I would take my chance of leaving my bag alone just to walk to the water, get my toes wet, and listen to the waves crashing. What a beautiful and a peaceful sound it is.

There are so many things to do on the beach, even when you’re alone. I enjoy being able to lay on the sand while either listening to music, writing, or just laying there half asleep while working on my tan. Being in an atmosphere that allows your brain to feel free provides more room for writing ability. I encounter writer’s block more often than I would like so being in a place that soothes me helps me overcome that. After lounging around, it’s time to check out the water! I’m not the biggest fan of the New York waters so I tend to stay on land but I love walking along the shore, looking for seashells. I tend to collect the prettiest of the shells I see and take them home as a souvenir. Aside from finding shells, I’ll go for a long walk to feel the sun hit my skin at a different angle, the feeling of the warm sand squish between my toes, and just get my body moving.

After spending hours on the beach, of course I need to wander off to find some food! After a long day of burning (because there is no way I am walking off that beach with a tan), I can stop at one of the few places I need to try in Long Beach. My friend told me about a place called, Swingbellys. They have cornbread pancakes that I MUST try! Then there’s Waffle Cabin, an outdoor served window to walk up and get waffles with various toppings! Sounds delish! Both these places are on my “must try food places” list so I’m sure the day would consist of either of those. Plus, then I can check another food place off my list. This day would be not only lazy but productive.

The past few years I have not spent much time at the beach AT ALL. I always hope to change that because I owe myself some leisure and like I said, the beach is one of my FAV places to be. Whenever I come home from the beach all I want to do is take a shower and nap forever. Let the laziness continue!

What is your idea of the perfect lazy day? Let me know by sharing a comment!

See ya,
Samm 🙂
