Writer’s Block. It’s A Real Thing.
There is a controversial topic going around… writer’s block, does it exist? A lot of people will say no but like with anything, there will be people to back up that it does. I’m not going to lie to you. I am currently experiencing a little bit of writer’s block, and it is hard to get past. What is better to write about than the thing holding you back from writing?
It’s suggested that writer’s block can just be laziness or the unwillingness to work. I think that’s just not right. It is not natural for everyone to just have all the things that they want to say in the moment. I know for me, there have been times when I wrote something, posted it and thought back on it with something even better to say.
Writer’s block does not just exist for writers. I know how you might think that doesn’t seem to make sense but hear me out. Take Youtubers for example. If you are someone that does Youtube, whether it be for a living or as a hobby, it must be hard to always have something to document. Of course, depending who you are and what you do, this concept may not apply to you because you are always out and about with something going on. But I am sure there are days that they are just unsure what to do for content and ponder the idea for quite some time. That is me, right this moment.
There are days that I know exactly what I want to write about but the words just won’t flow. I have a couple tricks that I like to try out for myself when this happens to me.
- Listen to music. I have a playlist titled, Writer’s Block, for the days that I need a little inspo. There are just a few songs on there currently but I am looking to find more feel good songs each day.
- Get my diffuser going. I have a few different go-to oils that I diffuse when I feel the block occur. The scents help to relax me and inspire creativity.
- Google/other blogs. Sometimes others have something really good to share and I like to make my own impression off of what they wrote about. No, I am not taking their work at all. If I need a topic, a phrase… I turn to a blog that I know can help give me some guidance.
I have some ideas that I have began to write about but I know that they are not exactly at the point that I want them. There is just a little more that needs to be said so they are on hold. At this moment, it seems I have more to jot down about my mental barrier than anything else. I am actually fine with that because this is a good way for me to express how I feel about the idea to the nonbelievers 🙂 .
Let me know… what do you think? Is writer’s block real? Have you ever experienced a creative slowdown? Whether it be in writing, song lyrics, drawing, content creating, the list goes on and on!
See ya,
